N.C. Municipal Circle Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512 SHORE LINE VOLUME XIII - Number 3 March 1992 Bob Ruggiero ] ] Co-Editors Barbara Marks ] TOWN BOARD MEETING - MARCH 10, 1992 After the meeting was called to order by Mayor Kanyha, Conmissioner Blanchard intro duced Keith Stroud of Waste Industries. Mr.Stroud addressed the Board and attending citizens of Pine Knoll Shores regarding options available to the recycling program. As of Januaryf 1993, a 25% reduction in waste taken from the town will be mandated by Senate Bill One-Eleven. Options of drop off site stations which are currently being used, curb-side pickups and/or both are considered. After Mr. Stroud's informative talk, Ccmnnissioner Blanchard stated that because of the State's mandated reduction in waste, yard waste will not be accepted at the land fill after the first of next year, and the feasibility of purchasing a conmercial grade chipper for the Town is being considered. Ccanmissioner Blanchard, Town Clerk Corinne Geer and Frank Herbst visited the system already in operation in the Town of Beaufort to observe their system, and found this visit informative and helpful should the Town purchase its own chipper. Coitmissioner Blanchard and Mayor Kanyha met with a representative from T. A. Liiving Construction Company to discuss a contract for removal of water caused by heavy rai ns. They are now in the process of obtaining permission to cross private property with t;he ^^Dses, and when this is finalized, there will be a more detailed report. Also Commissioner Blanchard made a motion that the Town enter into a contract with Raymond Earp for mowing the rights of way and for maintenance of the Town Hall grounds, and that Mayor Kanyha be authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the Town. This was approved. BULK RATE U.S. POSTAGE PAID PERMIT # 22 MOREHEAD CITY N.C. 28557
